Would You Be Enabling WhatsApp’s Two-Factor Authentication?

Yesterday, WhatsApp rolled out its two-factor authentication for all of its users on iOS, Android, and Windows devices across the globe. The new feature is cool because it will add an additional layer of security — the first level of security is tied to the phone number you’re registered to and now two-factor authentication adds another layer by having you create a six-digit code. There is a caveat, though.

              

 To help you remember your passcode (and protect you, of course), WhatsApp will periodically ask you to enter your passcode — by periodically, I mean once every 7 days and there is no option to disable this.

                  

 If you are still interested, all you have to do is:

1.  Open WhatsApp (Obviously!).
2. Go to ‘Settings.’
3. Go to ‘Account.’
4. Look for ‘Two-step verification.’
5. Tap on Enable.
6. On the next screen, enter the six-digit passcode.
7. Next, re-enter six-digit passcode.
8. You can also add your email address on the next screen, but this is optional.
